Columbarium

Deciding where remains will be placed upon one’s death is a personal decision. Many people like to make that

decision for themselves as part of their planning for the future. We offer a dignified alternative to internment that is both beautiful and simple. Cremation with memorialization is one alternative that many people choose. For additional information, or to make arrangements please contact St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas (360) 696-0181 or [email protected].

Historically, the church has laid the departed to rest with reverence and special care in a church courtyard or within the sanctuary. In keeping with this ancient tradition, St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas provides special facilities for the care and safe keeping of the cremated remains of our loved ones in our Columbarium.

The name Columbarium is derived from the Latin “Columba” or “Dovecote.” The dove symbolizes God’s spirit and peace. Niches are intended for members of St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas Parish and their immediate family members. Exceptions for special circumstances are determined by the Rector.

St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas’ Columbarium is in the St. Francis Chapel, a peaceful and quiet setting for memorializing loved ones. The ashes repose in a consecrated area within the chapel. Remains are placed in an individualized niche. Each niche is identified with a bronze memorial plaque.

Please note: Special urns cannot be used in our Columbarium Niches.
